Jbeil (Byblos) Pilot Project
The Jbeil district — home to one of Lebanon's oldest Christian communities — is our first northern pilot. We are currently in the partner identification and beneficiary mapping phase before full aid deployment begins.
About the Area
Jbeil, known historically as Byblos, is a coastal district north of Beirut with a significant and historically rooted Christian population. Once a prosperous middle-class community, many Christian families in Jbeil have been pushed into poverty by Lebanon's currency collapse, hyperinflation, and the breakdown of public services.
Elderly residents are particularly vulnerable — many live on fixed pensions that have lost over 90% of their purchasing power. Families that once owned businesses now struggle to afford bread. Christians Global Aid selected Jbeil as a pilot because of the acute need and the strong network of churches willing to partner with us.
Phase 1 Activities

Early 2025
Church Outreach Initiated
First contact established with parish priests in the Jbeil district. Three churches have agreed to serve as coordination hubs for identifying and reaching vulnerable families.

Community Leader Meetings
Meetings held with local Christian activists and community figures who have direct knowledge of the most vulnerable households in their neighbourhoods.

Beneficiary List — In Progress
Documentation underway: family names, sizes, locations, and primary needs (food, medicine, school fees) are being compiled into a structured beneficiary register.

Needs Mapping
Geographic mapping of intervention areas within Jbeil district to optimise distribution routes and ensure no family is missed.
Planned Interventions
Once beneficiary lists are finalised and funding is secured, these programs will be activated in Jbeil.
Food Security
Monthly food baskets targeting families unable to cover basic nutrition.
Elderly Healthcare
Medicine delivery and home visits for elderly Christians living alone.
