Why This Program Exists
Lebanon's healthcare system has all but collapsed. Hospitals demand payment in dollars. Medicine β most of it imported β has disappeared from pharmacy shelves or become unaffordable. For the elderly, who need consistent medication and regular medical attention, this is life-threatening.
Lebanon's elderly Christian population is uniquely vulnerable. Many live alone β their children have emigrated to escape the crisis. They have no savings left after the banking sector collapse wiped out their life's work. They live on pensions that are now worth less than $30 per month. They cannot afford a taxi to a clinic, let alone the clinic itself.
Our Elderly Healthcare Program sends trained volunteers and nurses to visit seniors in their homes twice a month. We provide medication, basic medical monitoring (blood pressure, diabetes management), wound care, and emotional companionship. For those who need specialist care, we cover the cost of a clinic visit.
Our Approach
How Your Donation Is Used
- 1
Local church deacons identify elderly parishioners who are living alone and struggling to access medical care.
- 2
Each senior is assessed by a nurse to establish their baseline health needs and medication requirements.
- 3
Volunteer teams and nurses conduct twice-monthly home visits β delivering medicine, checking vitals, and providing companionship.
- 4
For urgent or specialist needs, we arrange and fund clinic or hospital appointments.
- 5
Family members abroad are kept informed about their loved one's wellbeing through monthly update calls β a service families deeply value.
